Electric Live in London [17th September 2003]
FREMONT, Calif., Sep 17, 2003 /PRNewswire
via COMTEX/ -- Hurricane Electric, a leading Technical
Service Provider, announced the addition of an Internet
Exchange Point in the London area to its growing global
network by utilizing Telehouse London, one of the largest
neutral Internet exchange points in Europe.
Hurricane Electric is connected to Telehouse
London with an OC48, which connects the UK to the rest
of Hurricane Electric's Global OC48 backbone, ranked
among the top in the world. The newly added exchange
point will create redundancies to Hurricane Electric's
global network and create shorter packet routes to numerous
other networks. Telehouse London is home to the LINX
Network where the vast majority of UK Internet traffic
passes. Hurricane Electric employs a Gigabit Ethernet
port to the LINX switch, which gives it the ability
to peer with hundreds of networks, institutions and
companies throughout Europe.
"This is an exciting time for Hurricane
Electric and our customers," said Mike Leber, Hurricane
Electric president. "We've been adding new exchange
points almost weekly; with more and more customers and
a developing international client base, expanding our
network to include Europe gives us better performance
over our entire network."
The London connection comes just weeks
after Hurricane Electric added three new Equinix exchange
points in Los Angeles, Dallas and Chicago to its global
network. With the addition of the London exchange point,
Hurricane Electric has enhanced its self-healing network
architecture, which now includes eleven major exchange
points around the world.
Hurricane Electric is now offering direct
connections in London. To celebrate the addition of
the London exchange point, Hurricane Electric is extending
two special "Hello UK" offers. The first is
a full 100 Mbps Internet connection for $2,500 per month
out of Telehouse (LINX) in London, UK. This offer is
also available in Equinix Los Angeles, CA; Equinix Dallas,
TX; and Equinix Chicago, IL.
The second offer is flat rate Gigabit
Ethernet transit (1,000 Mbps of IP) for $20,000 per
month, available at Telehouse (LINX) in London, UK,
as well as 6 other locations in the United States, including

Alto, CA; Market Post Tower (55 South Market St.) in
