Named One of Texas' Fastest Growing Technology Companies

The Planet announces 6,611 Percent Revenue Growth
DALLAS, September 15, 2003—The fastest-growing
technology companies in Texas were announced today by
Deloitte & Touche LLP. The Texas Crescent Technology
Fast 50 is the only awards program that ranks technology
companies located throughout Texas by revenue growth
over a five-year period. The Fast 50 program is presented
by Deloitte & Touche, in association with Haynes
and Boone.

highlights the strength and positive future of the technology
sector in Texas," said Skip Moore, Regional Managing
Partner of Technology, Media & Telecommunications
for Deloitte & Touche. "Technology innovation
is here to stay, and Fast 50 companies are leading the
world in new, breakthrough innovation and real-world
solutions."
Topping the list is Sage Telecom, Inc.,
of Allen with a revenue growth rate of 69,914 percent
over five years moving from $268,000 in 1998 to $187,637,000
in 2002. Sage Telecom is a competitive local exchange
carrier dedicated to serving residential and business
customers with a full range of local and long distance
services.
Second on the Texas Crescent Technology
Fast 50 is Allegiance Telecom, Inc., of Dallas with
a growth rate of 7,778 percent over five years. Allegiance
Telecom is a facilities-based integrated communications
provider (ICP) that offers small to medium-sized business
customers a competitive, one-stop-shopping package of
telecommunications services, including local, long distance
and a full suite of Internet services.
Third on the list is The Planet Internet
Services, Inc., of Dallas with a growth rate of 6,611
percent over five years. The Planet Internet Services
is a leading provider of managed hosting and value-added
data center services focused on providing facilities-based
IT outsourcing solutions.
Motive Communications of Austin ranked
fourth with a growth rate of 3,749 percent over five
years. Motive is a leading provider of service management
software for Global 1000 businesses.
Rounding out the top five is Luminex
Corporation of Austin with a growth rate of 3,270 percent
over five years. Luminex develops, manufactures and
markets proprietary biological testing technologies
with applications throughout the life sciences industry.

Winners are selected based on the percentage of growth
in revenues from 1998 to 2002. To be considered, Fast
50 entrants must have met the following criteria: Have
operating revenues of at least $50,000 in 1998 and at
least $1,000,000 in 2002. Be public or private companies,
headquartered in Texas. Subsidiaries and divisions are
not eligible, unless they have some public ownership and
are separately traded. Be a "technology company"
defined as owning proprietary technology that contributes
to a significant portion of the company's operating revenues
(using other companies' technology in a unique way does
not qualify); and/or devoting a significant proportion
of revenues to research and development of technology.
Rising Stars Also Named
A special category called "Rising Stars"
recognizes the fastest growing technology companies
in Texas based on revenue growth over three years (2000–2002).
There were six companies announced in this category.
The fastest-growing "Rising Star" company,
