Signs Multi-Year Agreement with Nando Media
[2nd April 2003]
Cary,
NC – April 2, 2003 - Springboard Managed Hosting,
the Triangle’s leading Data Center and Web hosting
company, signed a multi-year contract with Nando Media,
the interactive media division of The McClatchy Company
(NYSE: MNI), one of the nation's top ten newspaper companies.
The
McClatchy Company publishes 11 daily and 13 community
newspapers, including the Raleigh based News & Observer.
Nando Media, formerly Nando.net, was re-focused to serve
as a central interactive operational hub for The McClatchy
Company when it purchased the News & Observer Publishing
Company in 1995.
Nando
Media provides complete Internet publishing solutions
and support for over fifty newspapers publishers, including,
but not limited to, The McClatchy newspaper Web sites.
With one hosting location currently in production in
Sacramento, CA., the addition of Springboard on the
East Coast was critical to providing stable, redundant
hosting to Nando’s digital publishing customers.
Under
terms of the new agreement, Springboard will provide
Nando Media with a secure caged area with room for over
100 servers and bandwidth of 30mbps. From a financial
perspective, Springboard’ s outsourced solution
will save Nando Media over $100,000 per year versus
the alternative of building their own data center.
“This
is a significant win for us on several levels”,
said Rich Lee, CEO of Springboard Hosting. “Nando
Media is a recognized market leader in the web publishing
space with a customer base that’s generating over
7.5 million page views a day. Moreover, we were the
clear winner after they conducted a rigorous review
process of competitive facilities and financial statements.
This win affirms our belief that profitable companies
with sound business models are being rewarded. Our competitors
will continue to get penalized for their “build
it and they will come” strategy, which we all
know doesn’t work in today’s economic climate.
”
According
to James Calloway, Business Development Manager of Nando
Media, “Choosing the right local web hosting partner
was a critical business decision for us. We evaluated
each potential partner’s experience, technology,
infrastructure, financial position, and perceived understanding
of our business. At the end of the day, the fact that
Springboard was profitable and had a more mature product
offering was the deal closer over the other local providers.”
Springboard
provides mission-critical infrastructure to over 190
Internet enabled companies, including fully-managed
servers, enterprise backup, managed firewall and intrusion
detection security protection and comprehensive 24x7
monitoring and management of e-commerce infrastructure.
