BURGER
KING(R) Canada Using IP Technology to Improve Customer
Experience; Radiant Communications(TM) Provides National
IP Network for Corporate Restaurants [October
6, 2004]
TORONTO,
ONTARIO, Oct 6, 2004 (CCNMatthews via COMTEX) -- BURGER
KING(R) Canada is committed to providing superior customer
service and is using the newest IP technologies to do
so. Speaking at IP World Canada 2004 today, Grant Sutherland,
Business Systems Manager of BURGER KING(R), announced
that BURGER KING(R) restaurants are quickly adopting
IP network connections.
The first step in the transition to
IP was to engage Radiant Communications(TM) for its
national IP network. "We selected Radiant's services
because they understand how critical communications
technology is in our industry, and they were able to
deploy services in all of our corporate restaurants
quickly and smoothly," explained Mr. Sutherland.
"We also wanted a provider with coast-to-coast
coverage. With 350 restaurants across Canada, we needed
the responsiveness of Radiant's one, central help desk
for technical support."
The first improvement customers of BURGER
KING(R) notice is the speed of their debit and credit
card payment. With a new IP-enabled POS system, payment
transactions at BURGER KING(R) are complete in only
a few seconds. As a result lines are shorter and restaurants
are able to process more orders more quickly during
busy mealtimes.
In the future, BURGER KING(R) will run
multiple applications over the same IP network connections.
These may include: gift card programs, music downloads,
security cameras, VoIP, and other corporate applications.
"Radiant has tailored its IP data
communications services specifically for the retail
and restaurant industries. We are very excited to be
part of the transition to IP-based technologies at BURGER
KING(R)" says Tom Gillette, Executive Vice President
based in Radiant's Toronto office. "We are currently
in the middle of a franchisee implementation program
to help BURGER KING(R) franchisees make the transition
to IP."
