C
I Host Prepares Data Centers For Future Internet Attacks,
Bolsters Systems [March 30, 2004]
FORT
WORTH, TX (March 30, 2004) - C I Host, a global leader
in Web hosting, Internet infrastructure and software
development, today announced it has reinforced its Internet
security and server backup safeguards preparing for
the escalated attacks of the future.
"This
is a pro-active move to prepare our systems today for
the attacks of 2006," said Christopher Faulkner,
CEO of C I Host. "Since January of this year, the
attacks have increased dramatically and for the most
part we have been untouched. But the latest attack,
the Witty worm, could have been a disaster."
C
I Host has bolstered its security and backup systems
by adding greatly increased tape systems for backing
up and storing content. The company will replace DLT4000
restore drives with DLT8000 drives. In the event of
a major attack, the tape units will speed restoration
efforts by 300 percent.
In
addition, C I Host has added two $550,000 EMC Symmetrix
3930 15TB SAN storage arrays to work in conjunction
with its StorageTek TimberWolf 9710 tape library systems.
These new storage arrays - at the push of a button --
are capable of restoring all of the company's shared
hosting servers at once if needed in a disaster scenario.
"These
measures are precautions to help fight the next generation
of attack," Faulkner said. "This equipment
is a major expenditure, and our customers will reap
the benefit. In fact, this level of security and reliability
are rarely available at our competitive shared hosting
prices."
