Christopher
Faulkner, C I Host CEO Invited to California Commercial
Club Spam Economic Forum [January 20, 2004]
DALLAS/EWORLDWIRE/Jan.
20, 2004 --- Christopher Faulkner, CEO of C I Host,
will be on a panel sponsored by the Commercial Club
of California on "The Multifaceted Nature of Spam
Email," which will explore current technology solutions
designed to prevent unsolicited commercial e-mail, the
benefits and value of email marketing, legislative and
legal trends and the business impact of those trends.
Faulkner is considered an expert on
the use of technology rather than legislation to stem
the unwelcome tide of junk commercial email, called
spam, which now makes up close to 60 percent of all
email.
"It is vital that we find a spam
solution that protects Internet users from unwanted
email, while at the same time upholds the commercial
speech rights of businesses," Faulkner said.
The panel, to be held April 1, was scheduled
by the club to give its members a chance to hear experts
from various fields discuss spam, freedom of commercial
speech issues and the health and growth of the Internet.
"With
the passing into law of the CAN SPAM act on January
1, interest in spam-related issues has reached a new
level," said George Mattathil, Program Chair, the
Business Economics and Technology Forum at the Commonwealth
Club of California. "The purpose of the panel is
to explore legal issues, new technology solutions for
spam, issues for e-mail marketers, and how to preserve
e-mail as a communications medium."
The
Commonwealth Club of California is the nation's oldest
and largest public affairs forum, bringing together
its 16,000 members for over 400 annual events on topics
ranging across politics, culture, society and the economy.
