Verio
Offers Enhanced Virtual Private Server Hosting Solution
To viaVerio Reseller Partners Worldwide [August
11, 2004]
Additional service availability out of Tokyo data
center; builds on launch in US, Europe
Englewood,
Colo. and Tokyo, Japan, August 11, 2004 - Verio, a subsidiary
of NTT Communications and a leader in global IP solutions,
today announced that its Virtual Private Server Version
2 (VPS v2) offering will be expanded, with new delivery
and management available from an NTT Communications
data center in Tokyo, thereby increasing responsiveness
and speed while reducing latency for customers with
a presence in Asia due to closer proximity. Available
to viaVerio® reseller partners targeting the Small
to Medium Enterprise (SME) market, VPS v2 provides a
unique combination of technology and performance in
a managed VPS hosting solution.
The
NTT/VERIO VPS v2 currently offered in Asia, the US and
Europe, has met industry demand for the global availability
of next generation Virtual Private Server solutions
that deliver three key elements to Verio channel program
partners who target the SME market:
-
The solution utilizes fair share technology for resource
management. This enhanced partitioning technology
ensures performance, regardless of activities of other
VPS customers, through the guaranteed allocation of
server space, processes, memory, CPU and network.
This partitioning also provides one of the best available
defenses against security breaches for customers.
- Root
access allows full control of the VPS, like that in
a dedicated hosting environment but often at a fraction
of the cost. These root access features allow users
to control all VPS resources including access to file
systems, configuration files, system libraries, root
files and application installations.
- The
advanced VPS v2 solution is built on an open architecture
platform, giving reseller partners and end users more
flexibility than other VPS offerings and improving
compatibility and integration with other systems and
applications. Based on the industry-standard UNIX
platform and the FreeBSD operating system, and with
the ability to run many Linux applications in Linux
emulation, the VPS v2 enables increased use of off-the-shelf
applications, and maximizes total cost of ownership
by extending the lifetime of applications. This VPS
v2 environment enables companies to build and deploy
an array of their desired applications, including
e-commerce, multimedia solutions and database applications.
“As
the company that introduced Virtual Private Server technology
to the marketplace, Verio demonstrates a commitment
to deliver tailored VPS solutions and technology to
our valued reseller partners in Asia Pacific and globally,”
said James Treuting, president of global sales for Verio.
“With VPS v2 being hosted from NTT Com's secure
data center in Tokyo over our Global IP Network, viaVerio
partners can now offer a faster and customizable hosting
solution to SME customers who want to build and grow
their online business.”
For
Verio's SME reseller partners in Asia, or working with
companies doing business in Asia, the solution offers
significantly enhanced revenue generation opportunities.
viaVerio resellers can now offer new and improved Web
services and applications at a reduced cost per hosting
solution. VPS v2 is available in Asia Pacific with Internet
Protocol version 4 (IPv4) enablement. IPv4/IPv6 Dual
Stack VPS v2 is in beta testing and will be commercially
available in 2005.
“Verio's
IPv4/IPv6 Dual stack VPS v2 solution allows IPv6 application
providers to take advantage of a user base with specialized
hosting needs,” said Izumi Miki, editor-in-chief
of IPv6style at Impress Corporation, a Japanese Internet
and digital content publisher. “IPv6style”,
a leading IPv6 portal website operated by Impress, is
scheduled to be deployed on Dual stack IPv4/v6 VPS v2
in 2004.
Pricing

The new VPS v2 is available immediately to viaVerio
